Fall Classes for Youth

MoonSchool at 42nd Street Moon offers year-round technique and performance-based classes for youth! Whether your student is brand new to theatre and looking to get their feet wet, or has lots of experience and ready for the next stage—we have a class for you!


To request financial assistance, please complete this financial aid request form. We are able to offer a limited number of full or partial scholarships, as well as payment plans, each session thanks to our generous donors and board of directors.


Musical Mayhem

Musical Theatre
Pre-K–2nd Grade

Tues. 3:15–4:15pm
Sep 3–Oct 29

Sing and dance and revel in musical mayhem! This class meets once per week to explore storytelling through body, voice, and imagination. Culminates in a student-created showcase told through song and dance on the final day of class.
Ages: 4–7 (Preschool-2nd Grade)
Tuition: $180/student

Acting Out

Musical Theatre
3rd–6th Grade

Tues. 4:30–6:00pm

Do you have a drama queen/king in the making? In this class, students build lasting friendships, develop music theory, dance, and acting skills and culminate in a showcase of musical theatre selections!
Ages: 8–12 (Grades 3–6)

Musical Theatre Jazz

For Preteens & Teens
Wed. 4:30–5:30pm
Sep 4–Oct 30

Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer.
Ages: 10–18 (or at discretion of Education Director)

Musical Theatre Tap

For Preteens & Teens
Wed. 5:30–6:30pm
Sep 4–Oct 30

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.
Ages: 10–18 (or at discretion of Education Director)

Improv

3rd-10th Grade
Mon. 4:30–5:30pm
Sep 9–Nov 4

Whose line is it anyway?! Improvisation techniques, improv games, and team-building! Hone acting skills, develop emotional flexibility, build body awareness, learn to listen actively, and connect with others.
Ages: 8–15 (Grades 3–10)
Tuition: $180/student


Voice Lessons

3rd-10th Grade
Mon. 5:30–6:30pm
Sep 9–Nov 4

Sing your heart out! A wonderful way to participate in the study of voice in a group setting which will build confidence and self-esteem in the young high-school singer. Class will deal with basic vocal technique including positive breathing habits, posture, good diction, phrasing and interpretation of song literature.
Ages: 8–15 (Grades 3–10)

Broadway Babies

Musical Theatre for Preschoolers
Tues. 2–2:45pm
Sep 3–Oct 29
Have a kiddo who's just a Broadway Baby?!  This is perfect for students 4–5 who are craving an opportunity to sing, dance, and stand in the spotlight!This 45-minute class meets once per week to explore storytelling through body, voice, and imagination and culminates in a showcase of a story told through song and dance on the final day of class!
Ages: 4-5 (Preschool)
Tuition: $150/student
 

  1. REGISTRATION POLICIES:
    Registrations are processed in the order received. Registrations are accepted until class is full or until the class begins
    You will receive an email follow-up after registering online, which will direct you to complete a required child intake form. Registration is not confirmed until the intake form is complete. Closer to the start date of the class, we will email further details confirming dates, times, and other information.

  2. CANCELLATION:
    If you cancel registration two weeks or more prior to the first day of class, you will be issued a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee.
    If you cancel your registration within two weeks of the first day, there will be no refunds unless your spot can be filled by a student on the waiting list. In the event that we are able to fill your spot, you will receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee.

  3. REFUNDS:
    There are absolutely no refunds after the first day of class. If MoonSchool must cancel class due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  4. ATTENDANCE:
    Due to the nature of the classes, attendance is mandatory each week. Exceptions will be made for illness and religious holidays only.
